The motel looked friendly, with the painted flowers. The best thing about the hotel is its proximity (1 minute walk) to Chestnut street, a lively street full of shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. In general, the Marina is a friendly neighborhood with good public transport connections to most places in San Francisco (center, Golden Gate Park, pier, etc.). And the shower was very nice!
We had a family room, and these are located at Lombard street, so this can be quite noisy, but this did not really disturb us.
Dogs are welcome and parking is free. It doesn't get much better than that. In addition, the room was large and clean. The location is great, a short walk to the Palace of Fine Arts and the marina.
You're not allowed to leave your dog in the room unattended unless you the dog is crated. If you have a big dog and are traveling without a crate, that's a problem. Also, if you get a room off Lombard, it's noisy.
It was personal and nicely decorated, not sparse, bare and minimalist. Loved having a garage for the car and the flower garden made the view of the courtyard an oasis in a large city.
We would have preferred to be closer to the main attractions but the bus ride was not too bad. We would have had a perfect stay if the Day Passport for the buses and cable cars was easier to find and buy.
The garage and the kitchen.
Never got the right number of towels and the garage wasn't always available.
They get 5 stars from us! This was a very nice Motel. Probably one of the cleaniness we have ever stayed in. The room was small but very comfortable with high end linens giving it a spa like feeling. The gardens are just beautiful and you feel like you are staying in a county cottage. The staff were so polite and did very thing they could to make our stay comfortable and it was. We highly recommend this motel and it will be our first choice when visiting San Francisco again.
ambiance, private parking possibilities, friendliness, location, courtyard
Wonderful little jewel in the marina district; authentic charm, wonderful flowers and attention to detail. My family had a wonderful time and look forward to staying here on our next trip to sf. Much better than the ginormous hotels by fishermans wharf, and free parking.
Thank to the staff and the manager who they are very friendly to answer my questions and help me all along my stay
The best part of our stay was ambience of the hotel, as it was quaint and a refreshing change from chain hotels. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. We also liked the locality, as it was close to the waterfront and chestnut street with a great variety of restaurants and shops.
The noise from the traffic on Lombard street took a bit of getting used to, as did the barge horns out on the bay. The room heater was noisy as it heated up during the night.
We stayed in a room next to the road which was the noisiest and unpleasnat experience we have encountered having stayed at hotels all over the world. Much could have been done to eradicate the traffic noise but was not done. On arrivcal the heating had been switched off and the bedrooms were freezing - and the bathroom window was left wide open to make matters worse.Overall it was a pretty awful experinece that will be reflected in customer comments on the website of this hotel. We would never stay ther again
The courtyard and the flowers in it were beautiful! The room was old, but very well up kept, made for a very cozy special place.
Bed not as comfortable as I like, I tossed and turned all night both nights we stayed. But on the other hand my husband slept solidly all night.
Cutest place ever! Unexpectedly great spot with flowers in a courtyard and parking and a sense of peace in an upbeat neighborhood. Tons of food, drink, and shopping nearby. Loved it- will definitely go back!
The location was great - close to all the major beachside and waterfront attractions of SF and Golden Gate Park
Room service was nearly non-existent on our second day of stay: only trash baskets and toilet paper were changed; had to find a maid to get replacement coffee and sugar
The Motel was was in a good location for St Francis Yacht Club and very close to Chestnut St for ease of shopping and eating. Having a Walgreens on the corner was good too. Most of the office staff were very helpful.
We did not get the room that we had booked online so the layout and kitchen facilities were a problem for us. Room service was poor. After a week I had to ask (twice) for the bed linen to be changed and to have the floors cleaned. Coffee sachets/bathroom products were not replaced.
It was our second stay in two weeks. We like the location.
We came back to our room quite late and oh dear, parking spaces were all gone.
